Tuesday Night Chess Club
Every Tuesday from 7.30pm
Settle in for an evening where strategy meets good company at the Duke of Kent, Ealing. Whether you’re a complete novice, a dashing tactician, or someone who hasn’t moved a pawn in years, Tuesday Night Chess Club is the perfect way to give your brain a workout and share a laugh or two with fellow enthusiasts.
Taking place every Tuesday at 7.30pm, all ages are welcome—though under 18s must bring a responsible adult and head off by 9:30pm. There’s no need to bring your mothballed board unless you fancy showing off a set with a story; we provide everything you’ll need to play, and there’s always room for walk-ins if the urge for a last-minute match strikes. If you prefer to plan ahead, simply book online to guarantee your spot.
Our host Jake brings spirit and warmth to the evening. He’ll pair you with players at your level, teach the basics to newcomers, and inject just the right amount of encouragement to keep the games light-hearted. Jake is always on hand for tips or to introduce one of his favourite variants—whether it’s Fischer Random (Chess960) or another curveball guaranteed to keep the night lively.
The best part? The club’s all about the pleasure of playing—whether you win, lose, or just enjoy the banter over a well-poured pint. It’s a brilliant chance to meet new faces, pick up a lifelong skill, and discover just how clever you really are.
No need to overthink it—come along, get a game, and be part of a proper Tuesday tradition at your local. Book in advance on our website to secure your place, or simply pop in and join us. We’ll make sure no chess player is left behind.
